Messy Hands
Peaceful Minds

The Magic Box. Where clay transforms... and so do people.

From the outside, it’s a humble but beautiful shipping container.

But step inside, and something extraordinary begins.

A simple lump of clay is transformed into something beautiful, shaped by your own hands, imagination and creativity.

And somewhere along the way, something else often changes too.

As your hands become busy, your mind begins to slow. Confidence grows. Worries fade into the background. Laughter is shared. New skills emerge. Friendships are formed.

That’s the magic of The Magic Box.

It isn’t magic because of the clay.

It’s magic because of what becomes possible when people are given the time, space and encouragement to create.

Come inside.

You might leave with a handmade bowl, a favourite mug or a unique sculpture.

But many people leave with something even more valuable—a sense of accomplishment, renewed confidence and the simple joy of creating.

What makes The Magic Box different?

Everyone who walks through the door of The Magic Box comes for a different reason. Some want to learn a new skill, some are looking for a creative outlet, and others simply need a break from the busyness of life.

Whatever brings you here, I hope you’ll leave with more than the pottery you’ve made. Perhaps you’ll discover new confidence, surprise yourself with what you can create, or simply enjoy a few peaceful hours with your hands in clay.

That’s the magic of this little studio. It’s not just about what you make—it’s about how you feel when you leave.

Classes

Step inside The Magic Box and discover the joy of creating with clay.

Whether you’re touching clay for the very first time or returning to a craft you already love, our classes are designed to be welcoming, relaxed and enjoyable.

Some people come to learn the pottery wheel. Others fall in love with the slower, hands-on process of hand-building. Many discover that the real pleasure isn’t just the technique—it’s the feeling of becoming completely absorbed in making something with their own hands.

At The Magic Box, you’ll be encouraged to explore at your own pace, experiment freely and create pieces that reflect your own imagination and style.

No experience is necessary.

Just bring your curiosity.

Come as you are. Leave with clay under your fingernails and a smile on your face.

The heart behind the Magic Box

Hi, I’m Machatarn.

I’ve been working with clay for over forty years, ever since I first discovered pottery as a teenager. What began as a creative hobby quickly became a lifelong passion—one that has brought me endless joy, curiosity and connection throughout my life.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching children, teenagers and adults in schools, community programs and disability settings. Those experiences taught me that pottery is about far more than creating beautiful pieces. It’s about creating opportunities—for confidence to grow, for creativity to flourish, and for people to discover what they’re capable of.

The Magic Box is the culmination of everything I’ve learned along the way.

It’s a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, experience or ability. Whether you’re making your very first bowl, exploring sculpture, or simply looking for a peaceful place to create, my hope is that you’ll feel encouraged, inspired and completely at home.

I can’t wait to welcome you into the studio.
